Mega, which won the regular championship of A League, lost the first match of the semifinal series 66:70 against Orbi, but took a revenge today and equalized the total score – 1:1. Accordingly, the third, decisive match has been scheduled, which will be held on April 19, at 12:00, at the Olympic Palace, and the winner of it will advance to the A League final.
Mega coached by Guga Pataraia, went to the court mobilized to play the second match of the series. Equal game took place in the debut minutes only, after which the Mega players gained a full advantage and, as time went on, increased their lead. Mega won the first quarter 26:21, the second one – 22:15 and went to the big break with a 12-point advantage.
Orbi’s attempt to change things ended in failure. Mega players played with such an attitude and, most importantly, wisely that the match lost sense already in the beginning of the final period. Mega’s advantage reached 30 points and it got clear that everything in the series would be decided by the third match.
Eventually, Mega won 87:67 (Statistics), an important contribution to this was made by the American legionnaires – Jermaine Marrow and Aston Francis. The former scored 20 points and 9 rebounds, the latter had 25 points and 7 rebounds. Nika Lolishvili was the most effective in Orbi with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Diago Quinn collected 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The second match of the semifinal series will be held today. Kavkasia beats Zestaponi 1:0 and is 1 win away from the final.
