Basketball club Mega is in the final of A league. The team coached by Guga Pataraia and Mikheil Kobeshavidze defeated Orbi 95:84 (Statistics) in the third, decisive match of the semifinal series and advanced to the decisive round for the Super League ticket.
Let us remind you that the winner of the A League will gain a ticket to the Super League. Mega is in the final and is waiting for the opponent, which will be either Kavkasia or Zestaponi. The semi-final confrontation of these teams has also reached the decisive match, which will be held at the Olympic Palace today, at 14:30.
As for the Mega-Orbi confrontation, the crucial meeting turned out to be quite tense, emotional and spectacular. Orbi players trained by Irakli Tomaradze were excellent in their debut, they carried out fast attacks successfully and scored both long and medium shots. As a result, the advantage of Tomaradze’s team reached 7 points at the end of the first period (27:20), Mega, however, was rescued by its legionnaires. Jermaine Marrow showed excellent skills, at first he equalized the score with accurate three-pointers and then, advanced Mega from the second quarter.
Aston Francis helped Marrow a lot, and one more American did a great job in defense – Travond Barnes. Mega won the second period 34:13 (!) And went to a big break with a 16-point advantage. The 15-minute break was well used by Orbi, who started to eliminate the difference as soon as they returned to the court, however, Mega stopped the well-started case with a strong defense.
With the effectiveness of Jordan Walker, Diago Quinn and Levan Lolishvili, Orbi reduced the gap to 10 points, but couldn’t get lucky at the key moment. They tried their best in the remaining time, however, didn’t manage to tension the situation on the court. Mega’s spare player – Nika Ramishvili also did a good job, making several successful breakthroughs. Finally, Guga Pataraia’s team calmly led the game to victory and reached the final of A League. For Orbi, on the other hand, the current season is over.
Jermaine Marrow led the winners with 38 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Aston Francis scored 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Luka Giorgadze had 12 points. Jordan Walker was the most effective in Orbi with 31 points. Diago Quinn collected 14 points and 12 rebounds. Levan Lolishvili scored 13 points.
