The current Super League record was set in Kutaisi today. Kutaisi, trained by Kote Tughushi, defeated Batumi with 37-point difference. However, that alone wasn’t the best result of the season. 125 points and 22 three-pointers scored by Imereti Club are the most in the current Super League.
Portuguese legionnaire Joel Almeida made his debut in Kutaisi, he managed to help the team with 20 points in 19 minutes. Almeida played for Titebi in the 2018-19 season and did not need to adapt to the Georgian Super League.
Kutaisi won the first period 41:27, thus actually determining the fate of the match. In the second ten minutes, the hosts increased the advantage to 20 points and the second half of the match became just a formality. Batumi had problems in defense and weren’t able to resist Kutaisi.
Eventually Kutaisi gained its 7th victory in the current championship 125:88 (Statistics). Kaheem Ransom led the winners with 21 points, 10 assists and 5 steals. Above-mentioned Almeida scored 20 points. Akaki Dvalishvili collected 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Nikola Vujovic was the most effective with 20 points and 8 rebounds in Batumi. Nemanja Kapetanovic scored 21 points and Beka Bekauri had 19 points.
Kutaisi takes second place in the standings with 7/7 victories, however, TSU with 3 losses is above Kutaisi, just because they had played 2 more matches for now. The next match of the Super League will be held on December 22 in Rustavi, where Dinamo will play.
