21:0 in the last 5:30 minutes: Vera coached by Gasitashvili also defeated Dinamo (video)

2 out of 2 victories over direct competitors – Davit Gasitashvili’s achievement as the head coach of the basketball club Vera. He is the president of this team and one of the owners and decided coaching temporarily, before bringing in a foreign specialist. Due to the reasons, Vera parted with 2 specialists – Irakli Khoshtaria and Levan Patsatsia this season, however, based on the current results, the question arises whether the leadership will bring a new coach to the team or not.

The level in the Super League is so equal, everyone is competing with each other, however, defeating the team next to them in the standings is more worthy. Considering this, they won very important matches: in the previous round, they beat Titebi 80:51, and today defeated Dinamo – 92:77 (Statistics). The last victory turned out to be eyeful, because such an unexpected thing was observed, the seasons will pass and we will probably not see a similar episode again.

There were 5:45 minutes left before the end of the match, when Vladimer Tavakarashvili shot a three-pointer and promoted Dinamo 77:71. The above-mentioned unexpectedness is that in the remaining time, Dinamo could not score a single point, while Vera gained a lot and finally won by 15 points. In other words, Vera defeated the opponent 21:0 in the last five and a half minutes of the match.

During the above-mentioned 21-point escape, 8 points were scored by the captain of Vera – Vakhtang Qadaria, which is a nominal center and scored 2 three-pointers unexpectedly for the opponent. During the historic escape, 8 points were scored by Bryson Scot, the top-scorer of this match, 3 – by Luka Maziashvili and 2 – by Aaron Parks.

However, the game was very tense before the mentioned episode. The first half ended with an equal score – 44:44, and after the third period, Dinamo was winning 65:64. And just when, in such an equal battle, Muhammad Taci’s team gained an important advantage and there was little time left before the end of the game, Vera offered their opponent such a surprise, which will be well remembered for a long time. 

Vera’s American legionnaire Josh Hawley was the most valuable player of the meeting, he scored 21 points and 15 rebounds. Givi Bakradze was no less effective. A point guard of the Georgian national team collected 17 points, 14 assists and 6 rebounds. Bryson Scot became a top-scorer with 26 points. Aaron Parks had 10 points and 10 rebounds, Vakhtang Qadaria had 10 points. Dinamo’s center was also successfull in three-pointers – Michael Edwards scored 4/6 long range shots and 21 points in total. However, he only scored the three-pointers in the first period. Tyler Williams and Jamal Wright had 15-15 points each.

The last match of the current round of the Super League will be held on March 7, in the capital of Adjara: Batumi against Cactus.
