Iverioni Is Winner Of Group Stage And Will Face Margveti In Final Round Of "A" League Qualification Tournament

Basketball Club Iverioni from Gori is the winner of “A” League qualification tournament. Team coached by Dimitri Jakobov won all 4 games and held 1st place in competition. In order to advance to “A” League, Iverioni has to defeat Zestaponi Margveti in last game of the qualification rounds.

Magveti was competing in “a” League in last season however could not advance to playoffs and held last place in championship. That’s the reason why team from Zestaponi has to fight for its right to play in “A League” and face the winner of qualification tournament.

Iverioni from Gori won first game against its direct opponent, Telavi “Burji” by 31 points. Today, second round game between Iverioni and Burji took place and Gori’s team again convincingly defeated opponent by 90:78. The third participant of qualification was Cyber, team consisted of non-professional players, which unfortunately lost all of its games.
AFter the first victory over Burji, Iverioni lost one of its legionary’s, Devon Cole who was seriously injured and was forced to return home. Despite this Iverioni have not experienced problems with defeating its opponent for the second time.The fact that team from Kakheti needed to win 32 points in order to qualify to next round was additional factor for Iverioni’s victory.
Jermyn Head with 24 points was the leader of the Iverioni. Aizia Lewis collected 20 points, Tariel Arabuli contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Next round of qualification tournament consists of two games between Iverioni and Margveti. The team which will score more points through out these games will gain the right to compete in “A” League.
