Lasha Gamkrelidze’s team reduced the difference in the series by defeating Kutaisi 101:96 in the third match of the quarterfinal series. The winner of the regular championship – Kutaisi defeated Titebi (8th place) in the starting two matches in Imereti and they would go to semifinals in case of victory today. However, the hosts played convincingly and reduced the difference in the series.
These teams met in semifinal matches of the Cup and Titebi then won the series 2:1. Now, Titebi played effectively again in one of the most important matches and gained a chance. Kote Tugushi’s team fought to the end retained a chance until the final siren, however, Kaheem Ransom and Ilia Londaridze said the final word at the final moment.
The former scored a three-pointer and the latter – 2 pointer and then “and one” 35 seconds before the end. Titebi advanced 98:93. Despite this, Kutaisians still had a chance to save the match. Davit Lomidze and Davit Barbaqadze reduced the difference with fouls to 3 points – 96:99. However, Kutaisian Davit Lomidze missed a ball which could equalize the score and the fate of the match was decided here.
Luke Moyer led the winneres with 27 points. Joel Almeida scored 24 points. Ilia Londaridze collected 19 points and 9 rebounds. Akaki Dvalishvili was the most effective with 30 points and 12 rebounds in Kutaisi. Jonathan Lee scored 29 points.
Kutaisi is winning the series 2:1 and the next match will be held on May 8 at Tbilisi Olympic Palace.
