The 5th round of the Super League that started in Kutaisi yesterday continued with 1 match in Tbilisi today. TSU and Cactus competed in the Olympic Palace. The match ended with an easy victory of the university team trained by Lekso Lapanashvili and Davit Artsividze – 77:54 (Statistics).
The result of the match clearly shows the advantage of TSU. Cactus, trained by Archil Zhghenti, couldn’t resist faster, more thoughtfull and effective team. TSU advanced 13:1 in the debut of the match and the most successful game of Cactus followed this episode, when the team of Zhgenti reduced the solid difference to a minimum – 16:17.
It seemed as if the game was going to be evenly continued, as Cactus nullified the gap very convincingly, however with the right tactics and good physical training the university team regained an important leadership soon. TSU advanced by 10 points at the end of the half and increased the advantage even more after a big break.
Fast counterattacks, positional play undercover and medium shots – with the good performance of these game components, Lapanashvili’s team didn’t not have any problems until the end of the match. In the third period, the leadership of the university team exceeded 20 points and the match ended in such a way that Cactus could not get closer to the opponent.
Brandon Sly led the winners with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bryce Smith collected 16 pointsa and 11 rebounds. Luka Zaqradze scored 13 points. AJ Sumbry was the most effective with 16 points and 9 rebounds in Cactus. Samajae Haynes-Jones had 11 points.
TSU holds the 2nd place in the standings after 3 victories and 2 losses, while Cactus has just 1 victory after 5 matches and thus, is among outsiders.
