The 5th tour of Superleague ended with a dramatic match. The teams on the top of the standings – Olimpi and TSU-Hyundai met each other. Both of them had 3 wins after 4 rounds, and they would have a good advantage by winning this match.
The game turned out to be very fast, tense and emotional. Despite the fact that Olimpi had the lead of 14 points (30:16) at the beginning of the second quarter, the match soon returned to the equal field and the winner was unknown until the last seconds. TSU-Hyundai managed to tie the game and reduce the difference for the end of the second period – 35:35.
Equal game continued till the end. Olimpi came close to victory when they gained 4 points advantage three minutes before the end of the match (73:69) thanks to the effectiveness of Tre Bennett and Rezo Rogava, but TSU-Hyundai managed to catch up and even lead by 1 point after Giorgi Korsantia’s 2-pointer and Dandro Sanadze’s 3-pointer. It is worth mentioning that Nika Metreveli played a very good game. He blocked Bennett in the last minute.
Eventually, TSU- Hyundai gained a very important victory – 75:73. James Milliken led the winners with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Nika Metreveli accumulated 12 points and 12 rebounds. Koka Tomaradze collected 12 points by 4 three-pointers. Sandro Sanadze scored 11 points. Rezo Rogava and Charles Bennett were the most effective in Olimpi with 17-17 points each. Nika Darbaidze scored 15 points.
Kutaisi and TSU-Hyundai are leading by 4 victories and 1 defeats. The following matches will be held on December 19 and 20.
