One of the interesting, tense and dramatic matches of the current season was held in Rustavi today. Rustavi, who is on the 3rd place in the standings, won against one of the outsiders – Marneuli – 101:99 in overtime.
At 3:30 minutes before the end of the match Marneuli was advanced with 14 points – 83:69. However, in the remaining short period the hosts made a small miracle and equalized the score. Rustavi had opportunity to win in the main time, but Goga Tsekvava scored one of the two free throws right before the end of the main time and the match went into overtime.
In the last 3 minutes of the main time and in additional 5 minutes Rustavi scored 8 three-pointers: Rezo Chachanidze and Adam Blazek scored 4-4 tree-pointers each. Despite all this, Marneuli didn’t give up, they were fighting till the end and advanced with 3 points in the last minutes. But this wasn’t enough, Adam Blazek scored tree-pointer, which brought Rustavi to victory.
Adam Blazek led the winners with 29 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Tyrel Nelson had 27 points and 14 rebounds. Rezo Chachanidze scored 24 points and 5 assists. Paul Cooper accumulated 16 points and 14 rebounds. Artem Shvets was the most effective in Marneuli, he had 26 points and 7 rebounds. Saba Lobjanidze scored 24 points and Nicholas Neal scored 20 points.
The second match was held in Kutaisi, where Batumi arrived and resisted the hosts very much. Kutaisi won the first period with 7 points, they increased the difference to 18 points before the big break. But Batumi managed to tie the game and won the third period 28:10. However, in the decisive moment, the Vice-champion – Kutaisi still managed to win 78:71.
