Basketball Club Rustavi 1991 left the Superleague. This team is one of the titular and of great traditions in the history of an independent Georgia. Rustavians have taken part in all championships held so far and changed their name couple of times. Rustavians with the name of Energy Invest became the champions 4 times in a row in 2007-2010. An in the second part of 90s, they went to finals 3 times with the name of Azoti, although they couldn’t defeat Vita.
Rustavi 1991 lost against Cactus today – 87:80 and left the Superleague. Nothing can change in the remaining 1 tour and Rustavians will end the regular championship on the last place, which means leaving the Superleague and going to the A League. Changing a couch couldn’t help this team – Rustavians won just 1 match with the lead of Georgios Ketselidis and lost their place in the Superleague.
By Rustavi’s defeat Cactus remained hope to avoid the 9th place and a qualifying matches against the finalist of A League. Titebi’s match with TSU-Hyundai is also of great importance. If Titebi loses, Cactus will have to defeat them by 17 points in the final match.
