15th tour of the Superleague started today in Tbilisi. First out of the three matches planned in the Olympic Palace has already ended. The only leader of the standings – Kutaisi and one of the outsiders – Cactus played against each other. Cactus is fighting to stay in the Superleague. The team trained by Archil Jghenti did everything for winning, but they couldn’t manage to defeate such strong rivals.
Kutaisi, trained by Kote Tughushi, gained a leadership from the very beginning and had 7-points advantage after the first period – 26:19. Cactus tied the game after the second quarter, however, all they were able to do, was reducing the difference to 1 point. The guests were winning 6 points for the big break. The third period was a decisive one as Kutaisians won it 25:19 and gained a convincing advantage before the final period – 74:62.
Cactus made huge efforts and remained a chance until the last moment, but the leader of the Superleague didn’t make any mistakes in the final episode and gained a victory eventually – 90:83. Akaki Dvalishvili led the winners with 22 points and 9 rebounds. De Juan Wright and Jonathan Lee scored 17-17 points each. Giorgi Barbaqadze collected 13 points and 7 rebounds. Delano Spencer was the most effective with 41 points in Cactus, he improved his own record of this season (34 points).
