Semifinal series of the Superleague, where last year’s finalists – Dinamo and Kutaisi play against each other, has come to a decisive match. Dinamo, trained by Irakli Khoshtaria, defeated Kutaisi at Tbilisi Olympic Palace in a 4th match of the series – 71:63 and equalized the score – 2:2. The 5th match, the winner of which will play in the finals, will be held on May 20, 18:30 in Kutaisi.
Today’s match went on with Dinamo’s advantage, however, it was an equal game at first. First period ended with a low score – 11:9. Kutaisian Akaki Lomouri scored a three-pointer at the last second and made Kutaisi win the starting quarter. But from the second period, Dinamo started playing more accurately and effectively. Tbilisian team won the second period 20:0 and gained an important leadership.
The hosts increased their advantage after the big break, which was mainly merit of Demagoj Bubalo and Jordan Swopshire. Merab Boqolishvili was also very effective, Mikheil Chochua played quite actively, but fouled out eventually, in the fourth period.
Dinamo’s leadership reached to 15 points in the final period, but thanks to Akaki Lomouri, Giorgi Barbaqadze and Jonathan Lee’s long range shoots and Akaki Dvalishvili’s active play in the paint, Kutaisians managed to reduce the difference to 5 points 2 minutes before the final siren. Dinamo took a one-minute break and returned on the court more ready. They didn’t give a chance to Kutaisians until the end since then.
Jordan Swopshire led the winners with 23 points. Demagoj Bubalo scored 20 points and 10 rebounds. Young Vladimer Tavaqarashvili collected 11 points. Jonathan Lee was the most effective with 16 points in Kutaisi. Akaki Dvalishvili scored 12 points and 13 rebounds.
A decisive match of semifinal series will be held on May 20, 18:30 in Kutaisi. The winner of this match will meet Delta in the finals.
