Leqso Lapanashvili’s team won the second match of the Superleague quarterfinal series. They defeated Olimpi and approached semifinals with one more step. Today’s match looked like the one held yesterday. Delta was winning throughout the match and Olimpi was trying to reduce the difference. Dimitri’Jakobov’s team managed it on the last minutes and gained a chance to win, however, they couldn’t bring it to the end. Eventually, Delta won 74:69.
Delta won the first period 22:14 and even increased their leadership to 12 points for the big break. Olimpi tied the game in the third period. And started reducing the difference due to fast breaks. After the third period the score was 54:60. They brought even more tension in the final quarter. 3 minutes before the end the difference was just 3 points. But thanks to Beqa Beqauri’s effective play, Delta still managed to advance by 8 points.
Despite this hard situation, Olimpi gained a real chance: Rezo Rogava scored a three-pointer and a two-pointer which reduced the difference to 3 points 24 second before the end. However, Olimpi had 17 seconds to equalize the score, but they weren’t able to use it effectively. Rogava missed a three-pointer and the fate of the match was decided. Beqa Beqauri led the winners with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Nottage scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Saba Lobjanidze and Artem Shvets had 12-12 points each. Rezo Rogava, Nika Darbaidze and Mark Ogden scored 14-14 points from Olimpi.
