The first semifinalist of the Superleague is Delta. Leqso Lapanashvili’s team won the series against Olimpi 3:0. Delta held the third meeting today at Tbilisi Olympic Palace and in spite of the rival’s resistance, achieved their goal. Delta won 81:71 and gained a ticket for semifinals.
In contrast to the previous matches, Olimpi was most likely to win this meeting. The team trained by Dimitri Jakobov, was playing stable both in defense and offense. But Delta was also good and the game turned out quite equal. The first period ended 18:18. The second one was won by Olimpi with a little advantage 19:17. Olimpi was winning 37:35 for the big break.
Delta started playing more agresively after the big break. Olimpi had troubles to score any balls according to Delta’s good defensive tactic. Delta won the third period 21:19 and score became equal again before the final quarter – 56:56.
Delta gained obvious advantage in the last period thanks to Otar Pkhakadze, Malcolm Drumwright and Beqa Beqauri’s effectiveness. 2 minutes before the end, Delta’s leadership was already 10 points. which meant their victory. Otar Pkhakadze led the winners with 21 points. Malcolm Drumwright scored 18 points. Eric Nottage had double-double – 12 points and 10 rebounds. Revaz Rogava was the most effective with 18 points in Olimpi. Mark Ogden scored 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Delta is in semifinals and is waiting for a rival from the pair of Mgzavrebi and Batumi.
